Michael Angel set to open Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on Thursday, September 10

Angel began his career as creative supervisor for SABA (top Australian Dept. store), before becoming Style Director of Melbourne Fashion Week and the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival as well as central figure on Australia’s Next Top Model.   Since launching his ready-to-wear for Spring 2008, he has received praise, acclaim and plenty of column inches everywhere from American Vogue to V magazine. Angel continues to attract celebrity fans and top models; his show will feature the designer’s close friend–fellow Aussie Nicole Trunfio.

Michael is one of those rising stars who’s energy is captivating.  He and his partner Christopher Katke (himself an extraoridinarily talented and increasingly in demand photographer) stand out as representatives of NNY (new New York) - the city that is already showing signs that it will flourish through it’s breaking of new talent and creativity once again.

We couldn’t be happier that he’s going to be the opening show of the week and whilst those that know him, saw an inevitability to his rise, it’s always nice when you are proved right.  Go Michael!

What do you get if you take 100 supercars, a bunch of celebrities, sports personalities, Maxim models and men (and women) who should frankly know better and put them in the middle of manhattan on a Saturday morning with monumental hangovers?  Well, you’ll get the 2009 Pepsi Max Bullrun…  and complete mayhem most probably.

The Bullrun is a road rally, not unlike the Cannonball Run (for those of you that grew up in the 70’s) that takes place once a year along a variety of routes.  This year it’s from New York to Austin, Texas - 3000 miles of road with a party in every city every night.  Needless to say, to become a Bullrunner takes a special kind of hedonist and auto junkie.  The last time Bullrun was in New York, they shut down Time Square for the off and this time, they’re moving things downtown to The Meatpacking District to really mix things up.

The party on Friday night will be at exclusive Soho House so if your name’s not down, I guess, you ain’t coming in.  I won’t be there either as I have a birthday party of a dear friend here in LA, but it’s a shame as it’s going to be a cracker.

Previous rallies have seen the likes of everyone from Hayden Christensen to Paris Hilton taking part.  This year, it’s Kim Kardashians turn to be the ‘flag girl’.  Although I think she’s also supposed to be entering the rally itself, I’m not sure that anyone is expecting her to win (go prove ‘em all wrong Kim).  Mind you, it’s not the winning it’s the taking part that counts eh?

And just look at that body in the above picture.  Isn’t that the most gorgeous thing you’ve ever seen?  The SSC Ultimate Aero takes my breath away AND it just happens to be the fastest production car on earth, and will be on the starting line come Saturday morning.  Oh, Kim, you look pretty good too.
